Where It All Began

Before moving to London, Heidi’s founder Ernst Strassman worked as a patissier in a luxury five star hotel and a selection of esteemed patisseries in Switzerland.

With moving to the UK came a position as Head Patissier at Fortnum & Mason, one of the most prestigious, upmarket department stores in the country.

In 1969, after enjoying success in the catering industry, Ernst decided to open his own patisserie named after his daughter, Heidi. Bringing together continental confectionary and traditional english recipes, Heidi’s quickly became a much loved part of the local community.
